LUCKNOW, Sept. 26 -- Taking serious note of reddish colour saliva used for turning over pages of petitions/applications (paper book) before these are submitted before the court, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court directed the senior registrar and other officers of registry section to prevent such practice. The court also directed the government advocate and the chief standing counsel to ensure the direction, while issuing written directions for restraining such practice, at their office. Justice Shree Prakash Singh passed the order on September 22 while hearing a petition filed by Krishna Vati and another person challenging the orders passed by the SDM, Mahsi, of Bahraich district in a property attachment case. People in the know of things said it is due to consumption of paan (betel leaf) or tobacco products by some people while turning the pages of petitions/applications before filing the same. "This is a highly unhygienic situation, which is not only disgusting and condemnable, but at the same time, it shows the lack of basic civic sense," the court observed. HTC...
