HC denies yasin malik's plea for AIIMS treatment
New Delhi, Nov. 29 -- The Delhi high court on Friday refused to order Tihar Jail authorities to take Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik to AIIMS for treatment of his cardiac issues.
In the petition, Malik's counsel had argued that there is no cardiologist in the jail facility.
Yasin Malik is currently serving a life sentence in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
A bench of justice Neena Bansal Krishna declined the request after considering the argument made by the Centre's lawyer that Malik was a high-risk prisoner and that a fresh order restricts his movement outside Tihar and the National Capital Region.
The bench also relied on a report by jail authorities, which stated that Malik was not suffering from any life-threatening condition.
"Apparently from the report received from Tihar Jail, it does not seem that he is suffering from any life threatening ailment. The petition is disposed of with direction to the jail authorities to provide appropriate medical treatment as per his condition and in case the said treatment is not available there, the same may be provided in the hospitals having the requisite facility," the court said in the order.
