Hariharan, Anup Jalota to receive Naushad Samman
India, Feb. 11 -- Singers Hariharan, Anup Jalota, sitarist Prof Saryu Kumar Nahar, and Lucknow-based singer Surbhi Ranjan will receive the Naushad Samman. This year's award ceremony will be held in two phases.
Hariharan and Prof Nahar will be honoured at an event at the MB Club on February 16, while Jalota and Ranjan will be awarded separately on March 22.
"For the past 17 years, we have been organising this award ceremony in memory of our beloved music legend Naushad saheb, who hailed from Lucknow. We are organising the event in two phases due to the artists' date availability. Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh will hand over the awards," says organiser Zafar Nabi.
On the same day (February 16), singers Apeksha Saxena from Mumbai, Alina Bharti from Jaipur, Snehi Gundev, and theatre personality Jagmohan Rawat will receive the Shaan-e-Awadh Samman. The singers will also perform on the occasion.
"In the second ceremony, musical duo Sameer and Deepali, along with Indian Idol fame Srishti Mukherjee and Biswaroop Banerjee, will perform and receive the Shaan-e-Awadh Samman from the chief guest at the same venue," adds Nabi, founder of the Hunar Creation and Craft Association.
Earlier, prominent personalities like sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, santoor player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, actor Hema Malini, singer-composer Mithoon, and singers Rekha Bharadwaj, Sonu Nigam, Talat Aziz, Kavita Seth, and Pratibha Singh Baghel have received the Naushad Samman....
