Gyanwapi's Wuzukhana survey: HC defers hearing to Oct 7
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 24 -- The Allahabad high court on Tuesday adjourned hearing of a matter seeking a survey by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) of the Wuzukhana area excluding the structure described by the Hindu side as a Shivlinga and by the Muslim side as a fountain inside the Gyanvapi mosque at Varanasi.
Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal will next hear the civil revision petition filed by Rakhi Singh, one of the plaintiffs before a Varanasi court, on October 7. The court passed the order after one of the counsel in the matter sought adjournment on the ground that he is ill and cannot attend court proceedings.
The revision petition challenges a Varanasi district judge's order of October 2023 that had refused to direct the ASI to survey the Wuzukhana (ablution) area....
