Gyanvapi case: Hearing on plea for wazukhana survey adjourned
PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 11 -- The Allahabad high court on Monday adjourned hearing till December 8 on the matter wherein an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey has been sought of the Gyanvapi mosque's wazukhana (ablution) area, excluding the structure described by the Hindu side as a Shivlinga and the Muslim side as a fountain as the matter is pending before the Supreme Court.
Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal will hear the civil revision petition filed by Rakhi Singh, one of the plaintiffs in the Shringar Gauri worshipping suit 2022 pending before a Varanasi court.
The court observed, "Counsel for parties informed that the matter is engaging the attention of Hon'ble Supreme Court and the next date fixed is 11.11.2025. In view of said fact, hearing of the case is adjourned. List this matter on 08.12.2025."
The revision has been filed challenging the Varanasi district judge's order dated October 21, 2023 refusing to direct the ASI to undertake a survey of the wazukhana area except the 'Shivlinga' inside the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi....
