Guv cautions against AI overuse in colleges
LUCKNOW, May 7 -- Governor Anandiben Patel made library time mandatory for students and cautioned against the excessive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) stifling creativity during a review meeting of government and aided colleges affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, held at Jan Bhawan in Lucknow on Wednesday.
The governor issued instructions making it mandatory for students to spend at least one hour daily in the library, which she described as a "veritable repository of knowledge".
During the meeting, which discussed issues like low student enrollment, the teacher-student ratio and the relevance of academic curricula, the governor issued several directives aimed at enhancing quality and holistic development.
Village adoption is one of the directives. Colleges were directed to adopt at least two villages each, organise activities within them and honour the winners during their respective Convocation Ceremonies to boost enrollment.
Teachers who have contributed significantly to elevating the standards of their colleges should also be honoured during the Convocation Ceremony. The university was directed to compile a detailed list of deficiencies in colleges' preparations for NAAC and NIRF assessments and to organise regular online workshops and review meetings to address these shortcomings....
