Gunmen rob two private firm staff of Rs.7 lakh in Rampur
LUCKNOW, April 16 -- Two armed men allegedly looted Rs.7 lakh from two employees of an automobile spare parts firm travelling on the Sampark Kranti Express in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur district, on Wednesday.
The victims, Ritik Mandal and Sahib Singh, employees of Japneet Auto in Singh Colony, Rudrapur, in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district, were heading to Delhi to purchase automobile spare parts for their shop, police said.
To avoid theft, the money had been secured in a belt tied around the waist of one of the employees. The robbery took place when the Sampark Kranti Express slowed near Bilaspur Road station in Rampur district. The miscreants approached the two employees and held them at gunpoint.
"The accused pointed a country-made firearm and a pistol at the victims and threatened them with dire consequences before snatching the cash belt," a police officer said.
The robbers allegedly fired in the air before jumping off the moving train and escaping, officials said. Police said the precision with which the robbers targeted the concealed money has raised suspicion of an insider tip-off or prior surveillance.
Teams of the GRP and RPF from Rudrapur and Rampur reached the spot soon after the incident and carried out an inspection of the area....
