Gunmen open fire at kin of cleric, narrow escape for victims
Meerut, June 12 -- Tension gripped Bareilly late on Tuesday night after unidentified assailants opened fire on the car of Faiz Raza, a nephew of Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan.
The incident occurred around 11 PM near the Bilwa Bridge on the city's major bypass road, as Faiz and others were heading towards the Dohna toll plaza on Nainital Road to have tea.
A formal complaint was moved on Wednesday and CCTV footage was being examined. The circle officer said, "An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons under BNS section 109 (attempt to murder)."
According to the police, Faiz was in his car when unidentified bike-borne miscreants opened fire. A bullet struck the car door, but fortunately, no one inside the vehicle was injured....
