Groom-to-be shot dead in Jaunpur wedding procession
VARANASI, May 2 -- A groom-to-be was shot dead by two masked men, even as the marriage procession was on its way to the bride-to-be's house, on Friday evening, police said. The incident took place in the Badshahi area, under the Khetasarai Police Station area.
Police said that the deceased was identified as Azad Bind (25), a resident of Badour village.
The wedding procession of Azad Bind (25), a resident of Badour village, under the Sarai Khwaja Police Station area, was on way to the house of Gorakhnath Bind in Bibipur Jamdaha-located 10 kilometers away within the Khetasarai Police Station limits. At Badshahi Bazaar, two masked miscreants on a motorcycle-who were lying in ambush-overtook the groom's vehicle, forced it to stop, and fired three rounds from a country-made firearm.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers fled in the direction of Jaunpur.
Meanwhile, the groom collapsed, bleeding profusely from injuries, and was rushed to the Sondhi Primary Health Centre.
Given his critical condition, doctors referred him to the District Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment....
