Groom's brother-in-law booked for celebratory firing at wedding
GORAKHPUR, March 1 -- District police on Saturday booked a contractor for allegedly opening fire from his licenced revolver during a wedding ceremony at the Nepal Club in the Civil Lines area of Gorakhpur on Friday night, officials confirmed. CO (Cantonment) Yogendra Singh said that an FIR has been registered against the accused under relevant sections, including attempt to murder, Section 7 of the CLA Act and the Arms Act. Police have also initiated proceedings to cancel his arms licence. Police registered an FIR on a complaint by Nepal club secretary Nitin Srivastava after celebratory firing at a wedding of Anil Singh's son in Siddharth Nagar.
