GPS monitoring to track Gomti clean-up ahead of Chhath Puja
LUCKNOW, Oct. 16 -- Divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant on Wednesday directed the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) to install GPS-based monitoring systems for real-time tracking of the Gomti River clean-up ahead of Chhath Puja. He also instructed officials to maintain daily records of garbage and water hyacinth removed from the river to ensure sustained cleanliness during the festival. Pant carried out a detailed inspection of major ghats,, to review preparations for the upcoming celebrations. LMC chief Gaurav Kumar and other senior officials accompanied him. During the inspection, Pant asked the LMC to increase the number of boats and steamers engaged in removing waste from the river and to ensure that sanitation workers perform duties in uniform. He directed that GPS systems be linked to the control room for continuous monitoring and that a daily logbook be maintained to verify on-ground progress....
