LUCKNOW, July 8 -- Over 74,000 applications have already been received under the Uttar Pradesh government's flagship Marriage Incentive Reward Scheme in the 2025-26 financial year. The scheme is aimed at encouraging marriage among differently abled individuals (Divyangs). Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure prompt processing so that every eligible beneficiary receives timely support. The financial support provided on the occasion of marriage enhances their self-esteem and helps them begin a new chapter in life with confidence. Under the scheme, Rs 15,000 is provided if the groom is differently abled , Rs 20,000 if the bride is differently abled and Rs 35,000 if both partners are Divyang. Minister for empowerment of persons with disabilities, Narendra Kashyap, stated, "Chief minister Yogi Adityanath envisions a society where every Divyangjan is treated with respect and given equal opportunities. The Marriage Incentive Reward Scheme is a transformative step in that direction, empowering couples both economically and socially. With a target to process over 74,000 applications this year, we are ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is left behind.
