Govt rolls out inclusive schools in 7 dists to empower divyang kids
LUCKNOW, May 17 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has launched Integrated Special Secondary Schools in seven districts including Auraiya, Lucknow, Kannauj, Prayagraj, Azamgarh, Ballia and Maharajganj. Additionally, a new integrated school is being developed in Ghaziabad, with ongoing construction work in Mirzapur, Etah, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, and Bulandshahr, a government spokesperson said on Friday.For many parents, enrolling children with physical or intellectual disabilities in a reputed mainstream school alongside other students was once just a distant dream. However, the UP government's resolve to promoting inclusive education-a system where children, including those with physical or mental disabilities, learn together in the same environment-aims to turn that dream into reality, according to a press release. To promote this vision, these schools will provide a common learning platform for visually impaired, hearing-impaired, orthopedically challenged, and non-disabled students. As many as 325 students are enrolled and are benefitting from an inclusive, encouraging, and compassionate academic environment.
These integrated schools are equipped with special educators, assistive learning tools, Braille materials, hearing aids, ramps, wheelchairs, and other essential resources.
Through interactive activities, collaboration, and daily interaction with non-disabled peers, the invisible walls of discrimination are being dismantled.Minister of state (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Divyangjan Empowerment, Narendra Kashyap, emphasised that the Yogi government seeks to ensure respect and equal opportunity for Divyang children.
"Through integrated schools, we are ensuring that no child is left behind. This initiative is reshaping the confidence, education, and future of Divyangjan," he said....
