Govt orders formation of SIT led by retd judge to probe paper leak
Dehradun, Sept. 25 -- The Uttarakhand government on Wednesday announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the paper leak in the UKSSSC graduate-level examination conducted on Sunday. The decision comes as protests demanding cancellation of the exam intensify across the state.
The SIT will function under the supervision of a retired judge of the Uttarakhand high court to ensure a fair and independent inquiry, and will submit its report in a month. The protests over the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level exam paper leak intensified on Wednesday, with rallies against it organised across the state.
On Sunday, the Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh alleged that the question paper of the UKSSSC graduate-level exam held last week leaked by 11.30 am -- half an hour after the beginning of the exam, and demanded that the state government cancel the exam and order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. The UKSSSC, however, said the three pages of the question paper was shared by a candidate from an exam centre in Haridwar to another person, and the integrity of the exam wasn't breached.
