LUCKNOW, June 9 -- A senior government officer working in a state development agency allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Lucknow's Indira Nagar area on Saturday night. The body of the officer, aged 59, was found hanging in his bedroom on the first floor of his house, police said, adding there was no suspicion of foul play. The Lucknow police said that the incident took place around 8:45pm on Saturday. A family member alerted the local police station, following which a team reached the residence and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination. "The officer was due to retire in three months and, as per family members, had been suffering from clinical depression for nearly 15 years and was under treatment," police said. A close family member claimed that he had talked about ending his life on several occasions in the past, but "none of us expected him to take the extreme step."...
