Govt land in Sambhal cleared of illegal houses
Meerut, Jan. 13 -- The district administration on Monday launched a demolition drive against illegal houses built on reserved government land in Mohalla Sharki of Sirsi town in Sambhal district.
Acting on court orders, the administration used JCBs to raze structures that had been built around a decade ago on land earmarked for the Gram Sabha and manure pits.
According to officials, the matter came to light following prolonged complaints regarding encroachment on reserved land. The case was subsequently heard in the Tehsildar's court, where orders were issued directing the occupants to vacate the houses. However, despite the judicial directive, the house owners failed to clear the land within the stipulated time.
The administration issued demolition orders, and the action formally began on Sunday. A revenue department team led by the Naib Tehsildar was present at the site to oversee the proceedings. On Saturday, a revenue team visited Sirsi and served eviction notices to the occupants of eight houses constructed on Gram Sabha and manure pit land. htc...
