Govt bolsters steps to contain spread as Covid tally reaches 3
Mussoorie, June 1 -- Uttarakhand reported two new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the active caseload to three in the state.
With the fear of the an uptick in Covid-19 cases in the country, the Uttarakhand state government has intensified its efforts to contain the virus by mobilising the health department and instructing all officials to stay vigilant. Dr. Pankaj Singh, in charge of the state's daily Covid-19 bulletin, said, "All three active cases in the state are from Dehradun, with two new cases reported on Saturday."
Union health minister JP Nadda chaired a high-level meeting in Dehradun on Friday to review health sector preparedness and progress in Uttarakhand. He commended the state's efforts in strengthening its healthcare infrastructure.
During the meeting, Uttarakhand health minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat provided updates on the state's readiness to face potential Covid-19 challenges.
He highlighted key measures, including bolstering the oxygen supply system, stocking essential medicines, and conducting regular training for healthcare personnel. "The health department officials have been directed to remain on high alert and respond swiftly to any potential outbreak in order to prevent a spike in cases," Dr. Rawat said.
In addition to Covid-19 preparedness, the Union health minister also praised the state's contributions to the tuberculosis-free India campaign.
He emphasised the need for greater public participation, regular state-level reviews, revised strategies, expanded NAAT testing, and thorough implementation of nutritional support schemes.
