LUCKNOW, May 20 -- The Yogi government is propelling industrial development along the expressways across Uttar Pradesh by acquiring land. Till date, the government has acquired around 3,827 hectares land, which is around 70 percent of the approved land, to set up industrial corridors along expressways. According to the state government, industrial corridors will come up along the Ganga expressway, Bundelkhand, Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal, and Gorakhpur link expressways. "Over Rs.5,500 crore has been invested in land acquisition. The sum includes stamp duty and registration charges," said the state government on Monday. According to the UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), warehousing, logistics, electronics, food processing, pharmaceuticals and IT industries will come up in the industrial corridors. Around 20,000 landowners have been compensated for land acquisition. Over 1,043 hectares of land acquired-998 hectares purchased and 45 hectares reclaimed-covering more than 70% of the approved area. A total of Rs.1,882 crore in compensation has been disbursed to 5,415 landowners. Industrial corridors are being developed at 11 locations, benefiting 12 districts. Over 1,528 hectares of land acquired of which 1,475 hectares was purchased, and 53 hectares was reclaimed, representing 80 percent of the approved land. Around Rs.1,655 crore has been spent, benefitting 3,783 landowners. Around 873 hectares acquired, which is approximately 60 percent of the approved land. Around Rs.1,365 crore has been spent, with compensation provided to 6,632 landowners. Key industrial hubs will emerge in Lucknow, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Azamgarh, and Ghazipur. Over 168 hectares acquired, which is more than 80 percent of the approved land. Around Rs.305 crore has been spent, benefiting 1,768 landowners. Two major industrial hubs will be developed along this corridor, in Gorakhpur and Azamgarh. More than 212-hectare land has been acquired, with an investment of over Rs.300 crore.
