LUCKNOW, May 8 -- Governor and Chancellor of State Universities Anandiben Patel on Wednesday urged private universities to take yoga to every village of Uttar Pradesh through the 'Yoga Connect' campaign. She was speaking at a meeting held at Raj Bhavan to plan for International Yoga Day 2025. Patel directed universities to organise yoga camps from June 1 to 21, not just on Yoga Day (June 21), and link these with health checkups, guidance, and awareness drives. The Governor stressed that yoga should not be a formality but must show real health improvements in people. "A book should be prepared to document the results and positive health changes," she said. The Governor instructed universities to coordinate with local schools, Anganwadi centres, and colleges to conduct regular yoga sessions. She also called for Body mass index (BMI) tests for girl students and action plans for the nutrition and health of children found to be malnourished. Patel further emphasised involving National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Schem (NSS) students and focusing efforts in adopted villages. Anandiben Patel also suggested special yoga sessions for pregnant women, highlighting the importance of 'Garbha Sanskar'.
