Kolkata, Nov. 19 -- The Raj Bhavan in Kolkata on Tuesday filed a complaint against Trinamool Congress MP and senior advocate Kalyan Banerjee over his "arms in Raj Bhavan" remark against West Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose, officials aware of the details said. "Raj Bhavan has filed a complaint against MP Kalyan Banerjee alleging commission of offences punishable under sections 151 (assaulting President, governor), 152 (acts endangering sovereignty unity and integrity of India), 197 (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) , 196(1)(a) and (b) (pertaining to acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 353 (1)(b) and (c) and 353(2) (pertaining to statements conducing to public mischief) of BNS 2023. The maximum punishment for the offences is seven years. The offences are cognizable and non-bailable," a senior Raj Bhavan official said. On November 15, Banerjee had alleged that Raj Bhavan was supplying arms and explosives to criminals to attack Trinamool Congress workers. "Ask the governor to stop sheltering BJP criminals inside the Raj Bhavan. He keeps them there, gives them guns and bombs and tells them to attack TMC workers. He is an incompetent governor...," he had said. Banerjee said on Tuesday that the complaint was lodged out of political vindictiveness. "Section 151 relates to assault on Governor. Where have I assaulted him?...It was lodged out of political vindictiveness with permission from the BJP's top leaders. The Governor too made multiple controversial remarks in the past. I am also going to lodge a complaint against him soon," Banerjee said....
