LUCKNOW, May 28 -- Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel has promulgated an ordinance to constitute Shri Banke Bihari ji Mandir Nyas for better management of the famous temple located in Vrindavan, Mathura and provide housing and other facilities to the large number of pilgrims visiting there. The ordinance titled 'Uttar Pradesh Sri Banke Bihari Ji Mandir Nyas Ordinance 2025, issued on May 26, 2025, provides for setting up of the Sri Banke Bihari Ji Mandir Nyas with nominated and ex-officio members. Those aware of the development said once the trust is set up, the process to acquire around 5-acre land costing around Rs 200 crore to 250 crore will take shape. This may involve demolition of some existing buildings. The state government proposes to spend around Rs 600 to Rs 700 crore for development of a corridor to provide necessary facilities to the pilgrims. The design for the corridor has already been worked out and the state government aims for a nearly two-year timeline for completion of works there. "Yes, with the promulgation of the ordinance the trust is going to be constituted soon. Corridor will be developed in the interests of pilgrims and tourists and provide basic amenities to them," said Mukesh Meshram, principal secretary religious affairs department, U.P. government. The ordinance provides for the appointment of an officer of not less than additional district magistrate as chief executive officer of the trust. There will be 11 nominated members and seven ex-officio members of the board of trustees that would have the powers to use the funds of the trust. The trustees would not be entitled to any salary though they would be given TA/DA, lodging and food facilities to attend the meetings of the trust. While the nominated members will include three dignitaries following Vaishnava traditions, three persons from any branch of Sanatana Dharma who may include educationists, entrepreneurs and those in social service. Two members will be nominated from serving Goswami traditions. The ex-officio members will include DM of Mathura, senior superintendent of police of Mathura, Nagar Ayukta, Mathura, Mukhya Karyapalak Adhikari, Uttar Pradesh Brij Teerth Vikas Parishad, CEO Banke Bihari Ji Mandir Trust....
