Governor orders surprise checks at girls' shelters
LUCKNOW, Oct. 28 -- Governor Anandiben Patel on Monday directed officials to conduct regular surprise inspections to monitor the functioning of government-run children's homes for girls and to review arrangements for their stay and education.
Chairing a meeting at Raj Bhavan with officials from the Lucknow district administration and the women's welfare department, Patel asked the vice chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Prof JP Pandey, to establish digital facilities to support online education for girls at these homes.
She instructed officials to focus on the education, health, and overall development of the children.
The governor also asked that regular health camps be organised for the girls' medical checkups, including haemoglobin testing and preparation of individual health cards. For this, she directed coordination with KGMU, Lucknow.htc...
