Godess Ganga's doli sets off for Gangotri
Mussoorie, April 30 -- The festive palanquin (doli) procession of Goddess Ganga commenced its journey to Gangotri Dham from its winter abode at Mukhba village at 11.57 am on Tuesday after customary rituals and prayers performed by the temple priests from Gangotri temple committee.
Deepak Semwal, secretary Gangotri temple committee, said, "The festive palanquin of Mother Ganga was adorned with flowers and after customary prayers and Vedic chants, the procession embarked from its winter abode at Mukhba village for Gangotri Dham at 11: 57 am."
The doli will halt for the night at Bhairav Temple (Bhairav Ghati) and reach Gangotri Dham on Wednesday at 10.30 am where, following traditional prayers, the portal of the shrines will be opened for devotees for Darshan, he added.
Meanwhile, the temple's priests geared up for the departure of goddess Yamuna from Khushi math in Kharsali and offered special prayers at Shani temple and in Yamunotri Dham on Tuesday....
