Glue and plastic strip trick exposed
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 11 -- A new method of ATM fraud has come to light in Prayagraj, where scammers are using glue and plastic strips to block the cash outlet of ATM machines.
According to police, fraudsters paste glue and strips at the cash dispenser to stop money from coming out.
After a customer's account is debited but no cash is dispensed, they think it is a technical issue and leave the ATM.
Once the customer leaves, the fraudsters remove the blockage and take the cash. This trick was exposed after one of the gang members was caught by locals in the Allahpur area on Thursday evening. The man, Lavkush Bhartiya, also known as Ponge, is a resident of Mohiuddinpur under Uttraon police station.
He was handed over to Georgetown police and later sent to jail.
Police recovered two Feviquick tubes, two plastic strips, a knife, and Rs.500 in stolen cash from him. His accomplice, the main accused, escaped from the scene.
ACP (Colonelganj), Rajiv Yadav, said that during questioning, Lavkush gave information about his partner. Police are conducting raids to arrest the main accused....
