Girls assaulted near JMP, FIR lodged against unidentified men
Lucknow, Jan. 4 -- Police registered a case after two teenage girls were allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified men near Janeshwar Mishra Park (JMP) in the Gomti Nagar Extension area on New Year's Day.
The victims were visiting the city from Sitapur along with their relatives, officials said.
According to the FIR lodged at Gomti Nagar police station on Friday, the incident occurred around 6 pm on January 1 when the girls were visiting the JMP area with family members.
The girls' father, Satya Prakash, lodged the complaint saying that five unidentified men allegedly began making obscene gestures at the girls. When relatives objected, the accused allegedly attacked them with fists and kicks.
The FIR read that one of the girls suffered serious injuries to her right eye and face during the assault. The attackers also allegedly vandalised the family's car by pelting it with bricks, shattering the rear windshield. Due to the broken glass, another girl seated in the back suffered an eye injury.
The complainant further stated that locals later informed the family that two of the attackers were taken away by police following the incident.
"Based on the complaint, police registered a case under sections 191(2), 115(2), 352 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023," said SHO Gomti nagar Sudheer Awasthi.
Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest all those involved, and further action will be taken based on evidence and witness statements....
