Girl kidnapped, raped in Pratapgarh; 2 booked
PRAYAGRAJ, July 29 -- A girl from a village under Jethwara police station limits in Pratapgarh was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two youths near the Sai river bridge on June 21.
A month later, her father filed a written complaint with the police on Monday, after which an FIR was registered against the accused at Jethwara police station.
Circle officer (Sadar) Karishma Gupta inspected the location of the alleged incident.
Station house officer Subhash Yadav said that multiple police teams have been formed to arrest the accused, and further investigation is underway.
According to police, the girl had gone to a bank in Babuganj market under Lilapur police station area to withdraw money. She was accompanied by her friend and her friend's brother.
After completing the bank work, the trio went towards the Sai river bridge.
There, two youths, identified as Riyaz and Asif, along with some of their associates, arrived on a motorcycle.
They reportedly beat up the girl's friend and her brother, who managed to flee from the spot.
The two accused then kidnapped the girl and took her to a field behind Mahmoodiya Islamia School, where they raped her and recorded a video, according to the police.
They also took her mobile number and threatened to make the video viral if she disclosed the matter to anyone. The girl was also warned that her father, a daily wager working in the market, would be killed if she reported the incident.
Over the following days, the accused allegedly visited her home and continued to issue threats, calling her from different phone numbers and demanding to meet her. Troubled by the continued harassment, the girl informed her family, after which her father approached the police....
