GORAKHPUR, July 7 -- After a four-month break from school due to financial hardship, Class 7 student Pankhuri Tripathi is set to resume her education on Monday, July 7. District inspector of schools (DIOS) Amarkant Singh confirmed that, following discussions with the school administration, her admission has been approved. The information was conveyed to her father, Rajeev Tripathi, a resident of the Purdil Pur locality. Pankhuri, from an economically weak background, had to discontinue her studies due to the inability to pay school fees. Her father is differently-abled and her mother, Meenakshi, works at a local shop to support the family, which also includes a son currently studying in Class 12. On July 1, during chief minister Yogi Adityanath's Janta Darshan, Pankhuri personally appealed to him for help. "Maharaj Ji, I want to study. Please waive my fees or help arrange them," she said. Moved by her plea, the chief minister assured her that her education would not be disrupted and directed officials to take immediate action. However, when Pankhuri approached her school on July 5 with a formal application for a fee exemption, the administration initially refused, leaving her disheartened. The delay drew criticism from Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, who took a swipe on social media over the unfulfilled promise. Amid growing public attention and political pressure, district authorities and education officials intervened, prompting the school to comply and confirming Pankhuri's readmission. "We have full faith in Maharaj Ji. Our family will always be grateful for this support towards our daughter's future," her father said....
