GIDA gets investments worth Rs.5,800 cr; 8,500 jobs generated
Gorakhpur, Aug. 28 -- Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) has allocated 182 acres of land for 54 new industrial units in the current financial year, attracting investments worth Rs.5,800 crore and creating nearly 8,500 job opportunities.
GIDA chief executive officer Anuj Malik said the growth was possible due to the availability of a strong land bank and land allotment based on investors' needs, under the leadership of chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
He added that Gorakhpur has developed a strong ecosystem for industries with improved infrastructure and ease of doing business, which has made the city a preferred destination for Indian and global companies.
Major investors this year include Shreyash Distilleries with Rs.2,667 crore, Ambuja Cement (Adani Group) with Rs.1,400 crore, Amrit Bottlers (Coca-Cola) with Rs.800 crore, and Keyan Distilleries with Rs.600 crore.
In the past five years, GIDA has received proposals worth Rs.9,445 crore, with the potential to create over 22,900 jobs. To meet rising demand, GIDA is also developing the Dhuriapar Industrial Township in southern Gorakhpur. htc...
