Varanasi, June 23 -- A special exhibition featuring 10 Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged handicraft products of Kashi will be held near the venue of the Central Zonal Council (CZC) meeting, at a starred hotel in Varanasi, on June 24. The meeting will be chaired by Union home minister Amit Shah and attended by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and Chhattisgarh CM Vishnudev Sai. Following the meeting, dignitaries are expected to visit the GI exhibition. The exhibition will highlight the globally renowned GI-tagged handicrafts of Kashi, celebrating the exceptional craftsmanship and rich heritage of local artisans. A total of 10 GI products will be showcased to give them national visibility and boost the recognition of local artisans. The Banarasi GI-tagged products on display will include: Brocade and saree, Gulabi Meenakari craft, glass beads, metal repousse craft, metal casting craft, wooden lacquer and toys, wood carving, soft stone Jali work, Banaras hand block print and Banarasi Zardozi. Padma Shri Dr Rajni Kant, famously known as the GI Man of India, expressed pride in the event. "This is a proud moment for Kashi, known globally for its art, culture, and traditions. This exhibition of GI products-integral to India's intellectual property-will provide a valuable platform to showcase the skills of Kashi's artisans," he said....
