Garbage dump at school triggers action against LMC staff
LUCKNOW, June 27 -- A sanitation officer of Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) was charge-sheeted on Thursday after garbage was found lying outside a Smart City-upgraded primary school in Chinhat during a surprise inspection. The officer was warned of suspension if similar negligence occurs again, according to an official press release.
The inspection team found the garbage dump right in front of the school building. The divisional commissioner's office directed immediate disciplinary action against Zone 4's sanitation officer, Pankaj Shukla and instructed the municipal team to ensure regular road sweeping and garbage clearance, especially around schools.
The inspection began at Primary School Kamta Pratham, where civil work by Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam and the Rural Engineering Department was reviewed. These included furniture installation, tiling, toilet construction, kitchen sheds, plastering, painting, and boundary wall development.
Divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob, who led the inspection, found the school ramp at Kamta Pratham excessively steep and directed officials to reconstruct it as per standard design norms.
She later visited Primary Schools Chinhat-1 and Chinhat-2, where teachers appreciated the quality of classroom infrastructure and furniture.
At Primary School Bharwara-1, Jacob suggested horticulture development and installation of sports equipment to enhance the learning environment, LMC stated. School authorities informed her about recent upgrades, including waterproofing, hand-wash units, drinking water stands, new toilet blocks, and boundary wall construction.
A total of 92 schools are being revamped under the Smart City project, with work executed by the State Construction Corporation and the Rural Engineering Department, according to the press release....
