Haridwar, Dec. 28 -- Gangster Vinay Tyagi died on Saturday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, where he was under treatment for grievous bullet wounds after two-bike borne assailants opened fire on him at Laksar on Wednesday, while he was under police escort. According to Haridwar senior superintendent of police (SSP) Pramendra Dobhal, the accused- identified as Sunny Yadav alias Shera (28) and Ajay Saini (24), opened fire when the police vehicle taking Tyagi to the assistant chief judicial magistrate's court for a routine hearing slowed down due to traffic congestion. Tyagi was shot in the chest, arms and neck, added the SSP. Two policemen were also injured in the firing. Both accused were arrested on Thursday and remanded to 14-day judicial custody, he said. The charge of murder under section 103 of the BNS was added to the case registered against them. "The accused told police that the shooting was carried out over a financial dispute," Dobhal said. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sunny Yadav had ongoing financial transactions with Tyagi and had been tracking his movements. "Vinay Tyagi was allegedly threatening Sunny when the latter demanded repayment of money. After learning that Tyagi was to be produced before the Laksar court on December 24, Sunny, along with his associate Ajay, planned and executed the attack to take revenge," the SSP said....
