Prayagraj, May 7 -- Around 15,000 fingerlings of Indian major carp family were ranched in the river at the Sangam nose here on Monday, Prayagraj-based Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI) said. Carps comprise of catla, rohu, mrigal and other species. The event was organised as part of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) project and it was briefed by Dharm Nath Jha, Head of the Centre. The chief guest of the occasion, Col Aravind Prasad S, commanding Officer of Ganga Task Force, Prayagraj explained the importance of the Ganga for human civilization and called for its cleanliness.
