LUCKNOW, Nov. 30 -- Lucknow Police have taken major action against a gang that allegedly orchestrated a woman's murder to claim insurance and loan benefits. "The Chinhat police team has seized Rs.98.44 lakh worth of illegal assets belonging to gang leader Kuldeep Singh, including his house and other movable and immovable properties," read a police statement. The case dates back to May 20, 2023, when a woman named Pooja Yadav (28) died in what was initially reported as an accident in the Chinhat area. During the insurance company's verification process, it was discovered that the "accident" was actually a planned murder. The accused had allegedly plotted her death to claim large insurance amounts and loans taken in her name," said SHO Chinhat Dinesh Chandra mishra. Investigations revealed that six people, including the woman's husband, father-in-law, and relatives, were involved in the conspiracy. They allegedly executed the plan under the pretext of financial gain. Based on the findings, the Chinhat Police registered a case under the Gangster Act. "Acting on orders from the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime & HQ), Inspector Dinesh Chandra Mishra and his team seized properties worth Rs.98,44,625 belonging to gang leader Kuldeep Singh under Section 14(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986," Lucknow police press note added. Police identified them as Kuldeep Singh (gang leader), Deepak Verma, Alok Nigam, Ram Milan (father-in-law), Abhishek (husband), and Abhishek Shukla.
