Agra, Jan. 10 -- Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday defended Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), stating that it was the roadmap for developed India and Uttar Pradesh. The initiative is set to replace the UPA-era's Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Maurya alleged that MGNREGA had become synonymous with corruption."G RAM G will weed out corruption that had plagued MGNREGA. The new scheme has enhanced guaranteed days of employment from 100 to 125 and will work more in the interest of labourers," Maurya told media persons at the circuit house here. Later, he attended a 'Jan Chaupal' event organised in this district's Fatehabad. He also criticised the opposition parties for objecting to the use of the word 'Ram' in the new initiative. On the claims by Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav of returning to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, Maurya mocked it, saying it was "daydreaming" on part of the former chief minister.
