LUCKNOW, June 26 -- A man arrested in connection with a kidnapping case in Bihar and who escaped police custody from the Aishbagh station in Lucknow in January this year, was finally caught and arrested in Hyderabad, officials said. A joint team of GRP Charbagh and the surveillance unit caught him after an intensive manhunt that spanned multiple states. "The accused, Dharmendra Kumar alias Mahi (34), a resident of Jalandhar in Punjab, was arrested on June 23 from Hyderabad," said SP Railway Rohit Mishra. Mishra added that Kumar had escaped police custody on January 10, while being escorted on Amrapali Express (15708) from Punjab to Bihar by a police team in connection with a kidnapping case. In another development, two head constables posted in Lucknow have been dismissed from service after a departmental inquiry found them responsible for the escape of an undertrial inmate from custody during a court appearance.
