Fuel shortage: Virgin Atlantic flight makes emergency stop in Lko
Lucknow, July 12 -- A Virgin Atlantic flight bound for Delhi from London made an unscheduled emergency landing at Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, late on Wednesday night, after running critically low on fuel.
The aircraft, carrying around 300 passengers, had been circling above Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport awaiting clearance to land when the pilot issued a "Pan Pan" call - an internationally recognised radio distress signal indicating urgency, though not immediate danger.
While Delhi is well-equipped to handle international air traffic, the diversion to Lucknow marked a highly uncommon move, turning the city's airport into a temporary hub for a trans-continental flight.
