Lucknow, Aug. 22 -- A programme marking India's contribution to space sciences from Aryabhatt to Gaganyaan was organised at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI) in collaboration with ISRO Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) to mark the National Space Day on Thursday. It highlighted how India progressed in the field of space sciences from ancient wisdom to future possibilities. A keynote lecture was delivered by Rupa MV, who was also one of the project directors of Chandrayaan-3, while the presidential address and guest lecture was delivered by TS Ganesh, who spoke about India's ambitious strides in space research and the significance of Chandrayaan and upcoming missions - Gaganyaan. Over 500 students and teachers from more than 30 schools participated in the programme. They also participated in the science model-making competition, quiz and drawing competitions. As part of science model-making competition - Devansh Singh, Aaradhya Pathak and Saru Joshi, all students of Class 8 from THS International School bagged first position for making a Bluetooth-controlled laser defence system. Prakhar Singh and Priyanshi Singh, students of Class 12 of SR Global School, BKT, displayed a model of Chandrayaan 3 and Aaradhya Singh (Class 9) and Gaurang Dubey (Class 11) of CMS LDA branch Kanpur Road displayed a model of mini Mars Rover and won second and third prizes, respectively. Rishti Singh, Abay Gupta and Arnav K Singh of CMS Aliganj 1, Adarsh Kanoujia, Rishi Kumar Pal and Suryanshu Vaish of CMS Station Road and Gauri Tiwari, Jyotika Minocha, and Kashia Tandon of La Martiniere Girls' College bagged top prizes in Quiz. Trisha Pareekh La Martiniere Girls College, Mahak Kulhara of Seth MR Jaipuria School, Kanpur Road and Arva Nigam of Indus Valley Public School were declared winners of the drawing competition. TS Ganesh, deputy director, ISTRAC, Bengaluru, was the chief guest on the occasion, while others who were present included Jaishankar Srivastava, associate director secondary education, Saman Habib, chief scientist, CSIR-CDRI and Rupa MV, group director, ISTRAC, Bengaluru. Meanwhile, on August 23, the second National Space Day will be observed across schools in UP, a spokesperson said. To mark the occasion, NCERT will launch a new module titled "India - A Rising Space Power", while council-run primary, upper primary, composite, and KGBV schools will host special activities to engage students....
