MEERUT, Dec. 28 -- In a fresh charge sheet related to the September 26 violence in Bareilly, the police have named 38 accused, including Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) president Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan. The chargesheet claims that, acting on the cleric's instructions, a hostile mob attacked police teams at several locations and raised provocative "sar tan se juda" (beheading) slogans. According to the chargesheet, police personnel were attacked while on patrol during the unrest. The accused allegedly targeted police teams at two separate locations, raising aggressive slogans and attempting to escalate the situation, reportedly acting on the directions of Tauqeer Raza Khan. SP (city) Manush Pareek stated 10 FIRs were registered at Baradari, Kotwali, Prem Nagar, Qila and Cantt police stations on September 26, with two additional cases added later.
