Washington, July 9 -- Four members of a family n Indian family of four perished in a car accident in Alabama on Saturday, the Indian consulate in Atlanta confirmed on Monday. "Four Indian nationals, including two children, lost their lives in a tragic accident in Alabama on Saturday 5th July. Consulate is in touch with the family and extending all possible support," the mission said on its X handle. HT has learnt that the family hailed from Hyderabad and had been living in the city of Dallas in Texas for around two years. The family was visiting relatives in Atlanta last weekend and met with an accident in Alabama on the way back to their home. The Consulate is in touch with the relatives of the deceased in Atlanta as well as with community organisations. Local authorities are expected to provide reports into the accident within a short period of time, during which the consulate will assist the family with procedural matters. Earlier in May, two Indian students studying at Cleveland State university were killed in a car accident. "Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate road accident in which two Indian students from Cleveland State University, Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar lost their lives; Our thoughts and prayers are with their families during this difficult time. The Consulate is in touch with the families and has assured them of all possible assistance," India's Consulate in New York said on X at the time. According to the US-based National Safety Council, an estimated 44,680 people died from preventable traffic crashes in the United States in 2024 alone....
