Four men impersonating cops extort money from youngsters
LUCKNOW, Sept. 28 -- Four men impersonating police officers allegedly extorted cash from youths playing cards at a hotel room in Aliganj area of the state capital on Thursday. Threatening them with arrest, the impostors also demanded money through online transactions. However, they fled the scene when the youths grew suspicious and questioned them, a senior police official said.
ACP, Aliganj, Rishabh Yadav confirmed on Saturday that an FIR was registered on Friday and further action would be taken against the accused who were being identified and searched for with the help of CCTV footage.
According to the official, Ravi Prakash, a resident of Keshav Nagar in Faizullahganj, stated in his complaint that he was in the hotel room with his friend Ashok. "Around 7 pm, four men in plain clothes claiming to be policemen forced their way into the room and seized the money we had," Prakash told police.
He added that the impostors introduced themselves as Yogendra Pratap Singh, Mohammad Zeeshan, Dhirendra Singh and Aman Khan. "When we questioned them, they threatened us with arrest and fled the scene," Prakash told police....
