VARANASI, Nov. 14 -- Four people were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a teenage girl from Bhadohi after luring her into a love trap and later selling her for Rs 1.10 lakh in Meerut on Wednesday, said Bhadohi police on Thursday. According to a senior police officer, the accused have been identified as Rohtash Bawariya of Rajasthan, Santosh Yadav of Bhadohi, Usha Devi of Bijnor, and Akash Gupta of Meerut. The accused had allegedly struck a deal to sell the girl to Akash Gupta, a resident of Rohta Khwajampur Majra, Meerut. They were caught by the police when they went to Akash's house to collect the remaining payment, officials said. SP Abhimanyu Manglik said that on October 15, a 16-year-old girl from a village in the Gyanpur Kotwali area of Bhadohi left home, telling her father she was going out for work, but she never returned. Following her father's complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the probe, it was found that the teenage girl had been in contact on social media with Rohtash Bawariya, a resident of Manda Pragpur in the Kotputli district of Rajasthan. The officer said that after luring the girl into a love relationship, Rohtash arrived at Gyanpur Road Railway Station to meet her. During interrogation, Rohtash told police that he handed the girl over to Santosh Yadav, a resident of Poorjhamman Gopiganj. Santosh then took her to Gwalior, where they stayed for three days, before taking her to Meerut. According to police, based on prior arrangements, the girl was later moved to Ghosipura, Bijnor, and Najibabad. They later handed the girl over to Usha Devi, a resident of Bana Kankerkhed, Meerut, the officer said. Usha, along with the girl, then went to meet Amardeep, a resident of Sainik Bihar. From there, three men took the girl to Rohta Bajampur Majra in Meerut, where she was finally handed over to Akash Gupta, according to police. The officer said that Akash Gupta had not yet paid the full amount. Usha Devi and Santosh Yadav had gone to Akash's house in Meerut to collect the remaining money when the police apprehended them. Meanwhile, police arrested the accused and rescued the girl from the spot. Later in the evening, the accused were brought from Meerut to Bhadohi, produced before the court, and sent to jail under judicial custody. Police said the teenager had been purchased with the intention of marriage.
