Haridwar, Aug. 26 -- Haridwar police has arrested four people for allegedly gang-raping of a woman in Piran Kaliyar area of Haridwar district, police said on Monday
The accused were identified as Anish Ahmed (31), Himanshu Saini (25), Rajat Pal (30), and Neeraj Kumar (48) from Kaliyar, while Deepak Kumar (29) remains absconding.
According to senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal, the arrests were made within hours of the incident on Sunday evening, which took place in a private school building near Haddipur village. The complainant, a resident of Haryana, had been staying with distant relatives in Bhagwanpur for about a month to meet her alleged lover, Anish Ahmed.
Dobhal said that the victim said in her complaint that Anish Ahmed took her to a liquor shop in Sohailpur, accompanied by Himanshu Saini. From there, they went to a secluded school building where four other men were present. The group allegedly offered her liquor,and then raped her while she was in an inebriated condition. The accused reportedly threatened her against reporting the crime.
He said a case has been registered against all accused under Section 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita at Kaliyar police station. Police teams continue to conduct raids to apprehend the absconding suspect, SSP Dobhal added....
