Four held for climbing Parshuram Chowk
AGRA, April 19 -- Four youths were arrested on Saturday for allegedly climbing atop Parshuram Chowk in Agra's Awas Vikas Colony area during Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations on April 14, said an officer from Sikandra police station.
These youths had placed blue flags on the chowk while wearing shoes. The incident drew an angry reaction from Brahmin community members who later met the Agra police commissioner and sought action. The police official at Sikandra police station confirmed the arrest of the four youths named in the case, which was registered after they were identified through video footage of the April 14 incident. Videos of the incident had gone viral. The police identified the arrested youths as Daksh, Pushpendra, Shivam and Prashant. The incident raised a sensitive issue while the city traditionally celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti for three days till April 17 at Bhim Nagari organised in GIC ground.
