Four get life term for kidnapping minor, demanding ransom
MEERUT, May 18 -- A court in Saharanpur district on Saturday sentenced four people, including a husband and wife, to life imprisonment for the abduction of a 12-year-old boy and demanding a ransom of Rs.20 lakh. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.40,000 on each convict, totalling Rs.1.60 lakh.
The incident occurred on February 24, 2017, when Mohammad Zaki, son of Mustakeem from Mansood Colony in the Mandi police station area, was kidnapped. According to Mustakeem's complaint lodged at Mandi Kotwali, his son had gone to a medical store to purchase medicine when unidentified individuals forcibly abducted him. The kidnappers soon contacted the family, demanding Rs.20 lakh for the boy's release. The police had arrested four accused, identified as Shivcharan from Kolagarh village, his wife Lalita, Sundar, and Salim Teli from Siraj Colony. htc...
