LUCKNOW, May 7 -- Four childhood friends riding a motorcycle were among six people killed in a head-on collision with a car on the Katra-Jalalabad Road near Barkheda locality under Madnapur police station limits in Shahjahanpur district around 2 am on Tuesday. Police said the bikers were trying to overtake a truck when they crashed into a car coming from the opposite direction.Shahjahanpur superintendent of police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi confirmed the deaths, adding that the four youths on the bike - identified as Ravi, Aakash, Dinesh, and Abhishek, all aged between 17 and 22 - had been returning from a wedding function in Kaanth area. All four were residents of Shahjahanpur. Two men in the car - Sudhir Kumar, the driver, and Sonu, a daily wage labourer - also died in the accident. Both were returning to Bareilly along with two others, who sustained serious injuries and are being treated at Shahjahanpur Medical College.According to police, three of the bike riders died on the spot and were declared dead at the Madnapur Community Health Centre. The fourth rider, Abhishek, succumbed to his injuries at the medical college. The car occupants were trapped in the vehicle after the collision, and locals helped pull them out. Two of them were already dead.
