Four arrested for attack on former block pramukh
Prayagraj, Sept. 16 -- Police have arrested four men for attacking former Chail block pramukh Sonu Kumar under the Airport police station area on Monday. One of the accused, Jaiprakash Dubey, is said to be a close aide of the jailed mafia leader Atiq Ahmed. All four arrested have been sent to jail, while one more accused is still on the run.
According to reports, Sonu Kumar, a resident of Koilha village in Kaushambi district, was involved in a land dispute with some individuals in Peepal village under the Airport police station. On Sunday, he visited the disputed site and protested against illegal construction being carried out there.
In response, Jaiprakash Dubey, Vikas Pasi, Sanjay, Sunil, and Jitendra Mishra allegedly attacked him with sticks and iron rods, leaving him injured. He was admitted to hospital in critical condition on Sunday evening. Following a complaint filed by Sonu Kumar, police registered a case and formed four teams to catch the accused. Additional deputy commissioner of Police (City), Abhijeet Kumar, confirmed that Jaiprakash Dubey, Vikas Pasi, Sanjay, and Sunil have been arrested. The search is still on for Jitendra Mishra, who is on the run....
