Bengaluru, Sept. 18 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested former Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) commissioner GT Dinesh Kumar for allegedly allotting sites illegally in exchange for bribes and other benefits during his tenure as the MUDA chief, officers aware of the matter said on Wednesday. Kumar, a senior Karnataka administrative service officer, was taken into custody on Tuesday night following raids at two of his residences. He was questioned throughout the day in Bengaluru, presented before a special court, and placed in one-day ED custody. He was not presented before a designated Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court as of 6PM on Wednesday. Investigators allege that Kumar oversaw large-scale irregularities during his tenure as MUDA commissioner. According to the ED, "the cumulative market value of the proceeds of crime provisionally attached so far is approximately Rs.400 crore." It includes 92 sites worth nearly Rs.100 crore attached in June, in addition to 160 sites seized earlier....
