Former Mandi Parishad official held for embezzling Rs 2.5 crore
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 12 -- Earlier dismissed for allegedly embezzling funds to the tune of Rs 2.5 crore, a former deputy director of Mandi Parishad was arrested from his Firozabad residence on Saturday evening, Prayagraj police said.
As per reports, Ravindra Singh, with the help of two of his subordinates and a retired employee, manipulated official records to misappropriate the funds. The case came to light on September 16, 2023. One of the four accused, senior assistant Manjit Singh, was caught and jailed.
The complaint against Ravinder, Manjit, accountant Sanjeev Gangawar and retired accountant Maiku Lal was registered on the complaint of assistant deputy director (Mundera) Kulbhushan Verma at the Dhoomanganj police station. All the accused were dismissed after the enquiry....
