Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur rushed to BRD ICU; condition stable
GORAKHPUR, Jan. 8 -- Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, currently lodged in Deoria district jail, was rushed to hospital late on Tuesday night after complaining of severe chest pain and sudden deterioration in his health inside the jail premises.
He was initially admitted to Maharishi Devraha Baba Medical College in Deoria. However, following complaints of breathlessness and anxiety, he was referred to Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College, Gorakhpur, for further treatment.
At BRD Medical College, Thakur was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in serious condition around 2 pm. A medical team from the Medicine and Cardiology departments examined him. Hospital sources said that an ECG showed abnormalities on the left side of his heart. Thakur also has a known history of asthma.Dr Raj Kishor Singh, medicine department, said, "His ECG showed some irregularities in the left heart region, and he is an asthma patient. A specialised medical team is monitoring him closely." Thakur's condition was reported to be stable on Wednesday afternoon.His echocardiogram (ECHO) report was found to be almost normal. Meanwhile, jail authorities from Deoria are preparing to shift him to Lucknow for advanced medical treatment.A member of the medical team stated, "The ECG report was not normal. Considering his medical history and current condition, there was a possibility of a cardiac issue. He requires advanced treatment....
