MEERUT, Jan. 7 -- The 43-year-old nephew of late Haji Aleem, a former BSP MLA, was killed and his brother seriously injured on Sunday in a property-related dispute with a local BJP functionary near Neemkheda village in Bulandshahr's Kotwali Dehat area, said police. The injured brother is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Meerut. The main accused has been identified as Pintu Chaudhary. The killing occurred around 8 pm on Sunday near Maman Road, where Sufiyan was allegedly beaten to death during a violent clash triggered by a dispute over the measurement of an orchard. His brother Akram (45) sustained critical injuries in the attack and was later referred to a higher medical facility in Meerut.According to the victim's family, Sufiyan and Akram had gone to the orchard for measurement when members of the opposing party arrived and objected to the process being carried out at night. The verbal altercation quickly escalated into a violent assault. The family alleged that BJP functionary Pintu Chaudhary, along with his brothers and other unidentified associates, attacked the two brothers with sticks, rods and sharp-edged weapons with the intent to kill.Sufiyan sustained fatal injuries and collapsed at the scene. Police rushed both to the district hospital, where doctors declared Sufiyan dead on arrival. Akram, whose condition remains critical, was given primary treatment before being referred to Meerut. Following the murder, tension gripped the district hospital and surrounding areas, prompting the deployment of a heavy police force, including personnel from multiple police stations and PAC units. Police said four to six teams have been formed to arrest the accused, who remain absconding, fuelling anger among the victim's family and supporters. They allege the accused are moving freely, while police action has been limited to assurances.SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh said the dispute stemmed from the nighttime measurement of an orchard and that the matter is under investigation. He added that no written complaint has yet been received from either side, and an FIR will be registered once a formal complaint is filed.
